Poetic Licence in the Vale

Gwynn Matthews

Meeting by Zoom, April 21st 2021

Gwynn, a 'son' of Dyffryn Clwyd, gave us a scholarly and fascinating talk on how the work of the professional Welsh poets, from the 14th to 17th centuries, might be used as historical sources. Several people and places of the Vale, with extracts from poetry, were used to illustrate the theme.

During the talk Gwynn encountered external interruptions on his computer, and there was other interference. Most of this has been edited out but we couldn't eliminate an occasional 'ping' sound. Please bear with us and enjoy the talk.
