CYMDEITHAS HANES LLEOL RHUTHUN
RUTHIN LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY
Tom the Brush
For this page we are indebted to a reader of this site, Helen, who sent me these images of an old booklet.
Entitled, somewhat obscurely, 'We Shall Meet on a Beautiful Shore', this is the personal story - written by himself - of Thomas Powell Roberts , who lived much of his life in institutions, including Ruthin Workhouse, but became a respected and familiar local character, still remembered by some older residents of Ruthin. It's an easy, short and fascinating read!
The booklet should be read in conjunction with Arnold Hughes' papers on this website on Ruthin Workhouse and Denbighshires' Almshouses.
I hope I am not infringing copyright by posting this - the booklet is long out of print.
