Possibly the first photograph of Ruthin.
At this time the Corwen Road passed through the Castle Gateway and Grounds, before being diverted to its present route to the left (east) .
The people in the photo. would be deliberately posing - and would have had to hold the pose for half a minute or more.
Maybe they had been pre-arranged, and had dressed in their best for the novel experience.
